The South Florida Mud Run was founded in early 2012 when founders Dustin Edwards and Stefanie Ink-Edwards decided to create a new type of fundraising event in South Florida. They wanted to create a unique fundraising event that not only would raise moneys for worthy causes, but did it in an active lifestyle and family friendly way. Thus the South Florida Mud Run was born.
After starting the non-profit, choosing what worthy charity would be its benefactor was easy. With both of their children, Owen seven and Emelia six months, spending time in hospital NICUs, the couple decided to support The Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida. The Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida is working to build a new tower and the founders want to support that mission.
The South Florida Mud Run was set up with the intention of giving 100% of its proceeds away, and it will always remain this way now and in the future.
